Meu trabalho sempre foi figurativo, motivado pelo
desenho e pelas sinuosas montanhas de Minas Gerais,
onde comecei a pintar e morei por 32 anos. Mas não
posso negar que o apêlo interior tem me levado a
trabalhos não figurativos também.
Todos nós precisamos de uma paixão, e eu sempre tive
algumas: cores, pintura + paleta, pincéis e.... liberdade.
Não consigo ver o mundo em preto e branco. Côr é como
o sorriso numa face: traz alegria e encanta os olhos de
quem vê.
Apesar de sempre querer pintar, foi só em 1979 que
pintei meu primeiro quadro a óleo. Antes pintava tecido,
fazia bonecos de pano e desenhava muito, buscando
sempre uma atividade artistica que me preenchesse. Até
que, não mais pude esperar, saí, comprei o material que
necessitava, fui para campo e pintei meu primeiro
quadro - a Fazenda S. Mateus, perto de Juiz de Fora.
Dai em diante era só o que eu queria - pintar.
Costumo dizer: Niguém escolhe ser artista, o artista É,
simplesmente. Cedo ou tarde, esta vontade aparece e
vem com força total que não dá para segurar. Como
auto-didata eu comecei, e a medida que meu interêsse
pela pintura crescia, mais aumentava minha vontade de
saber mais e mais os
segredos da profissão de artista. Tem sido como uma
nova paixão a cada dia , sem descanso.
Tenho experimentado diferentes técnicas e materiais:
óleo, acrilico, mixed media, colagem, assemblage,
pintura em seda e papier mâché; e em cada motivo eu
descubro muito sobre mim
e as diferentes possibilidades de expressão.
Nos ultimos 10 anos voltei a trabalhar com mais afinco
em colagem o que tem me dado muito prazer e novas
descobertas
E assim, aqui estou;
minha arte e minha vida somos UM.

I have been working with oil painting and mixed
media collage for more than 30 years
I used to live in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, Brazil,
where I started painting and making exhibitions.
My work was always figurative, motivated by the
sinuous mountains of MG. But I can´t deny the inner
appeal for abstract paintings too. Sometimes I have
an idea, or something that calls my attention is a
good way to start painting or doing collage.
I used to prepare the papers for my collages. I like
to paint them before, and a little touch when I am
working. It all depends of my feelings. I don´t follow
rules, although I know some. My goal is to let go and
see what happens. And this way I have found out a
lot about myself and my abilities to manage the
unknown.
Art is part of my life. I really think about it all the
time, so I created a blog "artist 24 hours" where I
can share my work and my life itself as an artist.
I use to say that nobody chooses to be an artist:
The artist IS.
It is a very strong feeling to express ourselves
through art that makes us go ahead and do it,
anyway.
I am a self-taught artist, always looking for more
knowledge about being an artist and how to express
myself.
